A Day in the Country with Doobie Nights

Saturday, July 11

We are excited to announce a special small-group experience created in partnership with Doobie Nights: A Day in the Country. This is not meant to be a fancy, overdone Wine Country production.

It is a relaxed, beautiful day out in the countryside with good people, real plants, a working farm, and the chance to learn directly from the farmer. The idea is simple: get out of town for the day, see where cannabis is actually grown, enjoy the scenery, have lunch in the garden, and experience a side of Northern California that most visitors never get to see.

The day begins and ends at Doobie Nights in Santa Rosa. From there, guests will ride together into the country for a farmer-hosted visit to a cannabis farm. You will have time to walk the land, see the plants, ask questions, and learn about sun-grown cannabis, sustainability, cultivation, and the farming culture behind the plant. This is an educational farm visit. The focus is on the land, the farmer, the plants, and the story behind Northern California cannabis. For anyone who has only experienced cannabis through a dispensary, this is a chance to see the plant in a completely different way.

Guests will enjoy a picnic lunch in the garden among the plants. The day may also include an optional winery stop before returning to Doobie Nights, depending on timing and the flow of the afternoon. This is meant to feel casual, personal, and easygoing. No big crowd, no rush, no stiff atmosphere. Just a small group, a scenic ride, a real farm visit, a good lunch, and a chance to spend the day somewhere beautiful. Details: Saturday, July 11.

Starts and ends at Doobie Nights in Santa Rosa. Private small group, limited to 12 guests. 21 and older only. Includes scenic transportation, farmer-hosted cannabis farm visit, picnic lunch, and optional winery stop. Tickets are $275 per person.

All guests must sign a travel waiver before departure.

Space is limited, and this first date is intentionally small so the day stays personal and relaxed.

What Most Visitors Learn After Their First Cannabis Farm Experience

When people first book a cannabis farm experience, they often think they know what to expect.

Many imagine a dispensary visit, a tasting room, or something centered around consumption. What surprises most guests is that the experience is actually about agriculture.

Northern California has become famous for both wine and cannabis, but few visitors ever have the opportunity to see where cannabis is grown or meet the people responsible for cultivating it. That access changes the entire conversation.

A cannabis farm visit begins with the land itself.

As you travel north through Sonoma County and into Mendocino, the landscape becomes increasingly rural. Vineyards, forests, mountains, and small farming communities create a setting that feels very different from the busy cities most visitors come from. The journey itself becomes part of the experience.

Once guests arrive at the farm, they quickly discover that cultivation is far more complex than many people realize. Factors such as climate, elevation, soil health, genetics, water management, and sustainable farming practices all play a role in producing exceptional cannabis.

The most memorable part of the day is often meeting the farmer.

Unlike many traditional tourist attractions, cannabis farms are still deeply personal businesses. Guests have the opportunity to hear firsthand stories about cultivation, harvest seasons, regulatory challenges, and the passion that keeps small family farms operating. These conversations provide a perspective that simply cannot be found inside a retail store.

Many visitors are also surprised by how closely cannabis farming resembles wine growing.

Both depend heavily on climate, terroir, careful cultivation, and generations of agricultural knowledge. Both industries are rooted in the land and shaped by the people who dedicate their lives to farming.

That connection is one of the reasons cannabis farm experiences feel so authentic.

A thoughtfully crafted day may also include a picnic lunch at a mountainside farm or in a vineyard, an option for premium wine tasting, or a stop at a local dispensary to further explore the products and brands connected to the region. However, the farm remains the centerpiece of the experience.

By the end of the day, guests often leave with a much deeper appreciation for cannabis than they had when they arrived. They understand not only how it is grown, but also the people, traditions, and agricultural heritage behind it.

For travelers seeking something beyond the typical Wine Country itinerary, a private cannabis farm experience offers a rare opportunity to connect directly with the land, the farmers, and a side of Northern California that most visitors never see.

Sustainable Cannabis Farming in Mendocino: What You’ll See on Our Experiences

Mendocino has long been known for small farms, rugged hillsides, clean air, and a deep connection to the land. For guests who are curious about cannabis beyond the dispensary shelf, visiting a working cultivation farm offers a completely different understanding of the plant, the people who grow it, and the agricultural traditions behind it.

Our private cannabis farm experiences are designed to be educational, personal, and rooted in hospitality. Guests have the chance to step into a real outdoor growing environment and see how sustainable cannabis farming works up close. This is not a commercial showroom or a rushed stop on a large group itinerary. It is a slower, more thoughtful experience centered around the land, the farmer, and the growing process.

One of the first things guests often notice is the setting. Mendocino’s cannabis farms are surrounded by natural beauty, with open sky, mountain air, garden beds, orchards, animals, and the quiet rhythm of rural life. The experience gives visitors a sense of why this part of Northern California became so closely associated with sun-grown cannabis. The climate, the soil, and the culture all play a role.

During the farm visit, guests learn about outdoor cultivation, regenerative practices, soil building, water conservation, and the seasonal nature of cannabis farming. Depending on the time of year, you may see young plants getting established, full-season plants growing under the sun, flowering plants developing their structure and aroma, or the quiet work that happens between seasons to prepare the land for the next crop.

A major part of sustainable cannabis farming is soil. Rather than treating the plant as something separate from the land, responsible growers focus on building living soil and using natural systems to support plant health. Guests may learn how compost, mulch, native soil, plant material, and farm-based inputs can all contribute to healthier plants and a more balanced growing environment. It is traditional farming wisdom applied to cannabis.

Water conservation is another important part of the conversation. In Mendocino, thoughtful farmers understand that water is precious. Guests may see how mulch helps retain moisture, how soil structure affects water use, and how growing directly in the ground can support a more natural relationship between the plant and the land. These are the details most people never see when they only encounter cannabis as a finished product.

The experience also gives guests a chance to understand cannabis as an agricultural crop with its own seasons, challenges, and craft. Like wine grapes, cannabis reflects place, weather, genetics, soil, farming philosophy, and timing. Seeing the plant in the field makes it easier to understand why small-farm cannabis has such a strong connection to terroir, sustainability, and local culture.

One of the most memorable parts of the day is the chance to spend time with the farmer. Guests can ask questions, hear directly about the work involved, and gain a more honest understanding of what it takes to grow cannabis responsibly. The conversation is often relaxed and personal, which is exactly what makes the experience so different from a standard tasting room or retail visit.

Depending on the itinerary, guests may also enjoy a picnic lunch with the farmer amongst the plants, creating a simple and beautiful moment in the middle of the day. It is a chance to slow down, take in the setting, and experience the farm as a place of hospitality, not just production.

For guests who enjoy Wine Country, this kind of cannabis experience feels familiar in the best way. It has the same appreciation for land, farming, craft, and hospitality that people love about visiting vineyards, but it opens the door to a newer and often misunderstood part of Northern California agriculture.

Our experiences are private, thoughtfully arranged, and designed for adults who want to learn, not just look. The focus is cultivation, sustainability, local farming, and the people behind the plant. For cannabis-curious travelers, wine lovers, and guests looking for something truly different in Northern California, a Mendocino cannabis farm visit offers rare access to one of the region’s most important agricultural stories.

This is cannabis seen at its source: grown under the sun, shaped by the land, and shared through the kind of personal hospitality that makes Northern California so special.

While You’re Visiting Us on the Farm: Some of the Best Outdoor Experiences in Sonoma County

Just another Day in Sonoma and Mendocino

Private Cannabis Farm Experience with Sonoma County Outdoor Adventures

A visit to a working cannabis farm is one of the most unique ways to experience Northern California. It brings you closer to the land, the farmers, the growing season, and the agricultural culture that makes Sonoma and Mendocino so special. But one of the best parts of planning a private cannabis farm experience in this region is everything else you can enjoy while you are here.

Sonoma County is not just wine country. It is river country, redwood country, coastal country, and farm country. Visitors come here for the scenery as much as the tastings, and the best days are often the ones that combine a private farm experience with time outdoors.

One of the most classic ways to enjoy the area is kayaking on the Russian River. The river winds through some of the most beautiful parts of Sonoma County, with peaceful stretches near Guerneville, Monte Rio, and Jenner. A morning or afternoon on the water is a perfect addition to a farm visit, especially for guests who want a full day built around nature, fresh air, and the slower pace of Northern California.

The Sonoma Coast is another unforgettable part of the experience. From Bodega Bay to Jenner, the coastline offers dramatic cliffs, wide beaches, ocean views, and some of the most beautiful walking and hiking trails in the county. Places like Bodega Head, Goat Rock Beach, and the Kortum Trail give visitors a true sense of the Pacific Ocean’s power and beauty. Sonoma County’s own travel guides highlight these areas for hiking, coastal views, beaches, and seasonal whale watching.

For guests who love hiking, the region offers everything from easy bluff-top walks to shaded redwood trails. Armstrong Redwoods near Guerneville is one of the most peaceful places to visit, with towering old-growth redwoods and trails that feel worlds away from city life. Sonoma County also has an extensive network of regional and state parks, with opportunities to hike through forests, along rivers, near lakes, and above the Pacific Ocean.

A private cannabis farm experience fits naturally into this kind of trip. The farm is not just a stop on an itinerary. It is a chance to understand how cannabis is grown, how the land shapes the plant, and how small farmers are working with the climate, soil, sun, and season. Guests can spend time with the farmer, walk the property, learn about cultivation, and see a side of Cannabis Country that most visitors never experience.

Many guests choose to make the day even more complete with an optional premium wine tasting, a picnic lunch at a mountainside farm or in a vineyard, or a visit to a local dispensary. Others prefer to keep the day focused on the farm and the outdoors. Either way, the experience can be shaped around the kind of Northern California day you want to have.

For travelers coming from San Francisco, Napa Valley, Sonoma, Healdsburg, or the Russian River area, this is a different way to explore Wine Country and Cannabis Country. It is slower, more personal, and more connected to the land. You can kayak the Russian River, hike the Sonoma Coast, walk among the redwoods, visit a working cannabis farm, and still have time to enjoy the food, wine, and small towns that make this part of California so special.

The best visits here are not rushed. They are built around real places, real farmers, and real landscapes. That is what makes a private cannabis farm experience in Sonoma and Mendocino so memorable. It gives you the rare chance to see Northern California from the ground up: the river, the coast, the redwoods, the vineyards, and the farms that define this region.

Excited to Offer a New Spring Cannabis Farm Experience Beginning April 15

For the first time, I’m excited to be able to offer a cannabis farm visit this early in the season. In past years, these tours usually began in June, but because this farm grows from seed, the plants are already strong enough to be in the ground by April 15. That makes this a special opportunity to visit earlier in the season and experience the farm at a beautiful time of year. What makes it even more interesting is that the farm is not just growing cannabis, but many different fruits and vegetables as well, all intertwined in a regenerative style of farming that feels deeply connected to the land. Even with younger plants in spring, a two-hour visit with the farmer is peaceful, educational, and a wonderful way to experience Mendocino agriculture in a more personal way.

Why San Francisco Is the Perfect Starting Point for a Cannabis Farm Tour

San Francisco is often the beginning of a Northern California trip. Visitors arrive for the city, the views, the restaurants, and the energy. But what many don’t realize is how quickly the experience can shift once you leave it. Within a short drive, the landscape changes completely. The density of the city gives way to open roads, vineyard views, and eventually the quieter, more rural terrain of Sonoma and Mendocino. Guests visiting from San Francisco often use this as a private daytrip into Sonoma and Mendocino. For guests staying in San Francisco, this creates a unique opportunity. Instead of limiting the trip to the city itself, the day can extend into a completely different environment—one that feels removed, slower, and more connected to the land. This is where the idea of a cannabis farm visit begins to make sense. Rather than searching for something within the city, the experience becomes about leaving it behind for the day. The drive itself becomes part of the experience. Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, moving through Marin, and heading north into wine country creates a natural transition. By the time you arrive at the farm, the pace has already shifted. What stands out most is the contrast. In San Francisco, everything is immediate. On the farm, everything takes time. Growth, cultivation, and the daily work of maintaining the land are all tied to natural rhythms that can’t be rushed. Spending time in that environment changes how the day feels. It becomes less about checking off stops and more about being present in one place. Guests are able to walk the property, see how cannabis is grown in real conditions, and speak directly with the people responsible for it. It’s not staged, and it’s not something that can be replicated inside the city. Beginning in May, this becomes even more meaningful. The growing season brings the farms to life. Plants are in the ground, the landscape is active, and the work of cultivation is visible. It’s the right time to see how everything actually functions, not just hear about it. For many visitors, this ends up being the most memorable part of their trip—not because it replaces the city, but because it complements it. The contrast between the two experiences is what makes it work. One is fast, structured, and built around movement. The other is slower, quieter, and built around time on the land. Together, they create a more complete picture of what Northern California has to offer.

What People Get Wrong About Cannabis Tours in Northern California

When most people hear the phrase “cannabis tour,” they tend to picture something casual, loosely organized, and centered around consumption. That assumption has followed the industry for years, and in many places, it still holds true. But that’s not what’s happening in Northern California. Guests visiting often use this as a private daytrip into Sonoma and Mendocino. A different kind of experience has been quietly taking shape—one that has far more in common with agriculture than entertainment. These are working farms, not attractions. The focus is cultivation, not consumption. And for guests who take the time to step into that environment, the experience feels entirely different from what they expected. The shift begins with access. Most cannabis farms are not open to the public. They are private, regulated agricultural spaces, often tucked into remote hillsides or valley edges where climate and terrain play a direct role in how the plant is grown. Visiting one is not something you can arrange casually or stumble into during a weekend trip. It requires relationships, timing, and coordination. That alone changes the tone of the day. Instead of moving from stop to stop, the pace slows down. Guests spend time on the land, walking the property, seeing how cultivation works in real conditions, and speaking directly with the people responsible for growing the plant. There is no script, no production, and no pressure to move on to the next stop. It’s closer to visiting a vineyard before it ever became a tasting room. Beginning in May, this becomes even more apparent. The growing season brings the farms to life. Plants are in the ground, the landscape is active, and the work of cultivation is visible in a way that can’t be replicated later in the year. It’s the right time to see how everything actually functions, not just hear about it. For many guests, this is where the experience shifts from curiosity to understanding. And while the day often includes the option for premium wine tasting, it doesn’t compete with what Napa and Sonoma already do well. Instead, it complements it. Wine offers a finished product. Cannabis, in this setting, offers a look at the process. Seeing both in the same day creates a more complete picture of what agriculture in this region really means. There’s also a difference in how the day is structured. These are private experiences, arranged in advance, with small groups and a clear intention behind each visit. There are no buses, no drop-in stops, and no crowds. The experience is shaped around access, timing, and the ability to spend meaningful time in one place rather than moving quickly through many. That alone sets it apart from most tour formats. For travelers who have already experienced wine country, this offers a way to go deeper without needing to go bigger. It’s not about adding more stops or more activity. It’s about changing the perspective of the day. And once people see it that way, the idea of a “cannabis tour” starts to mean something entirely different.

Why Napa Valley Guests Are Looking Beyond the Tasting Room

For decades, Napa Valley has set the standard for how people experience agriculture. Thoughtful hospitality, attention to detail, and a deep connection to the land have made it one of the most recognized wine regions in the world. But something has been shifting quietly in recent years. For those staying in Napa Valley, this can be arranged as a seamless private daytrip beyond the tasting room.

Guests are still coming for wine, but many are starting to look for something more. Not louder. Not more crowded. Just more real.

The tasting room, as polished as it is, can only take you so far. After a while, the experience becomes familiar—beautiful, yes, but predictable. And for travelers who have already spent time in Napa, there is often a natural curiosity about what exists just beyond it.

That’s where a different kind of day begins to take shape.

Beginning in May, as the growing season comes alive across Northern California, the landscape changes. Vineyards are active, hillsides are green, and cannabis farms are fully in motion. This is when cultivation can be seen, understood, and experienced in a way that simply isn’t possible during the off-season.

What many guests don’t realize is that just beyond Napa Valley, in Sonoma and Mendocino, there are working farms where cannabis is grown with the same level of care, climate awareness, and craftsmanship that defines the best vineyards. These are not retail spaces or consumption-focused stops. They are agricultural environments—quiet, intentional, and deeply tied to the land.

Spending time on a farm offers something fundamentally different from a tasting room. You are not standing at a bar. You are walking the property. You are seeing how the plant responds to its environment. You are speaking directly with the people who grow it.

It slows the day down in the best way.

For many Napa Valley guests, this becomes the most memorable part of their trip—not because it replaces wine, but because it adds another layer to how they understand the region as a whole. Wine and cannabis are both products of place. Both are shaped by soil, climate, and the decisions of the people who cultivate them. Experiencing both, side by side, brings that connection into focus.

The day itself is designed to feel seamless. A private departure from Napa Valley, a scenic drive through vineyard and mountain terrain, and time spent on a working farm. Along the way, there is the option for premium wine tasting, but it remains just that—an option. The focus stays on the land and the experience of being in it.

This is not about replacing what Napa Valley already does well. It is about expanding it.

For guests who have already experienced the tasting rooms, the pairings, and the polished side of wine country, this offers a chance to step slightly off that path and see something more grounded. Something less staged. Something that still feels connected to the agricultural roots that made this region what it is in the first place.

A New Farm Joins Our Portfolio: A Different Kind of Experience in Cannabis Country

Every once in a while, you come across a farm that just feels different. Not louder or more polished—just more real. We’ve recently added a new property to our portfolio, and it brings a completely different energy to what we offer.

This is a place that works with the land, not against it. The focus here is regenerative farming—building healthy, living soil, taking care of the surrounding ecosystem, and letting things grow the way they’re meant to. Nothing is rushed and nothing feels forced. Everything starts from the ground up, literally, with soil that’s built over time using what the land naturally provides.

From the Ground Up

The plants are grown under the sun and follow the rhythm of the seasons. They’re started from seed, not cloned, which gives them a little more personality and resilience. You won’t find anything overly manicured or industrial here. It’s a working farm in the truest sense, where everything has a role and everything is connected.

When you step onto the property, you feel it right away. It’s quiet, grounded, and honest.

For our guests, this isn’t about consumption—it’s about understanding. It’s a chance to see how cannabis has traditionally been grown in Northern California and how that approach is coming back in a thoughtful, intentional way. The farmer is deeply passionate about what they do and genuinely enjoys sharing that process with people who are curious and want to learn.

Adding this farm to our portfolio simply gives us another layer to share. It’s a different perspective, a different pace, and a really authentic look at what Cannabis Country is all about.

A Growing Season in Cannabis Country

As we move toward May, we are getting ready for what looks to be one of our strongest seasons yet.

We are currently in conversations with a more integrated vegetable and animal-based sustainable farm that reflects the kind of agriculture we believe in. If finalized, this will expand our growing portfolio to four carefully selected farms across Sonoma and Mendocino — each offering cultivation and education tours for our guests.

This matters because cannabis tourism is changing. Guests want more than a quick look at plants. They want context. They want to understand the land, the soil, the water, and the people behind the crop.

Cannabis Is Part of a Bigger Agricultural Story

The farms we work with represent traditional Northern California agriculture. Sun-grown cultivation. Living soil. Compost systems. Thoughtful water use. In some cases, vegetable gardens and livestock working alongside cannabis.

Seeing cannabis within a diversified farm setting changes the perspective. It becomes clear that this plant is simply another crop — grown with care, subject to climate, and dependent on responsible land stewardship.

With the option of experiences three Cannabis Farms, guests can compare different cultivation styles, microclimates, and farming philosophies. Adding a more diversified farm deepens that experience and shows how cannabis fits into a larger regenerative model.

What Makes These Visits Different

Our tours in Sonoma and Mendocino are educational by design. Guests learn how cannabis is grown from seed to harvest, how terroir shapes aroma and cannabinoid development, and what small farmers are navigating in today’s market.

This is not a novelty experience. It is direct access to working farms.

The day remains private and thoughtfully paced. Guests may choose to include the option for premium wine tasting, but the core of the experience is always the cannabis farm visit. Lunch is a picnic lunch at a mountainside farm or in a vineyard, grounding the day in the landscape itself. For those interested, we can conclude with a visit to a local dispensary.

Looking Ahead to May

May marks the beginning of the growing season in Cannabis Country. Hills turn green, planting begins, and farms come back to life.

Expanding to four carefully selected farms allows us to offer something few others can: authentic, educational access to real cultivation environments in Sonoma and Mendocino.

We are looking forward to welcoming guests back to the farm this spring.

How a Hospitality Background Shaped My Cannabis and Wine Tour Experience in Northern California

A look at how years of traditional hospitality work in Napa and Sonoma led to the creation of a private, cannabis-focused tour experience in Northern California. This post shares the story behind the tours, the growers, and the seasonal rhythm of Cannabis Country.

If you are reading this then I should name the friends in the photo. Ronnie: The Cat who thinks he’s a dog! Cowboy my favorite dog evah! and Soda Pop! the sweetest horse on earth! Visitors have been coming to Northern California for generations to enjoy the vineyards, the food, and the steady calm of Wine Country. What many don’t realize is that the same land and climate that support world-class wineries have also shaped a long-standing cannabis culture. During my years working as a maître d’ and concierge in Napa and Sonoma, I saw this connection every day. Guests were curious about cannabis, but there wasn’t a dependable or professional way for them to explore it.

Ronnie, Cowboy and Soda Pop

That is what led me to create CannabisWineTour.com. The intention was simple: to offer a private, well-organized, and respectful way for guests to experience Cannabis Country with the same care and quality they expect from traditional hospitality.

Over time, I built strong relationships with local farmers, boutique wineries, and long-established cannabis cultivators throughout Sonoma and Mendocino. Many of these growers have been working the land for decades. Their approach is steady and grounded, shaped by experience rather than trends. When guests visit these farms, they see the real culture of the region: skilled growers, quiet landscapes, and a community that has long taken pride in its craft.

Cannabis is the heart of these tours, with the option for premium wine tasting available for guests who want to include it. During the growing season from May through October, visitors can walk the fields, meet cultivators, and see the plants in the ground at a working farm. When winter and early spring arrive and the farms rest, the experience shifts. Guests can visit a small hashery, watch how hash is made, enjoy a picnic lunch at a mountainside farm or in a vineyard, stop at local dispensaries with lounges, and add wine tasting if they choose.

These tours also support local farmers who are facing a challenging market. By bringing respectful visitors to their land, the experience offers an additional source of income while giving guests a clearer understanding of Northern California’s cannabis heritage.

The tours have found their place naturally through search, word-of-mouth, and the strength of the experience itself. My role is straightforward: apply the standards I learned in traditional hospitality, take care of people, and guide them with real knowledge of the area. If you have any more questions please call me here in Healdsburg at 707.266.8235

After Harvest Cannabis Tours in Sonoma and Mendocino: Hashery, Dispensaries, Lounges, and Wine

The sun rises on Chiles Valley Oct 29 2025

Winter in Northern California is one of the best times to discover cannabis and wine country. After harvest, the landscape changes—rolling hills and vineyards turn iridescent green, the air feels crisp, and the pace slows down. It’s the season when locals take a breath, and visitors can enjoy the region in a more personal way.

Our cannabis tours continue all winter long. Guests get the rare chance to step inside a small hashery and see how cannabis flower is carefully transformed into resin. It’s hands-on, traditional work that connects the plant to the final product, and it’s something most people never get to witness up close.

Along the way, we stop at dispensaries and lounges where the community gathers. These are welcoming places to learn about new strains, meet passionate people, and enjoy the relaxed culture that cannabis is known for. Some lounges have river views, others are set in the hills, but all offer a chance to unwind and feel part of Northern California’s cannabis scene.

Wine remains part of the journey too. Even in off season, tasting rooms are open and inviting. Winemakers have more time for conversation, and it’s easy to settle in with a glass while taking in the quiet beauty of the vineyards. It’s a natural pairing with the cannabis experience, since both are grown from the same land and reflect the care of local farmers.

We make it simple to enjoy the day. Some guests choose a self-drive tour to go at their own pace, while others prefer a fully curated experience with a private car and driver. Either way, the focus is on connecting you to the best of cannabis and wine during the green season of Northern California. After harvest cannabis and wine tours offer more than just tastings and stops—they’re a window into the culture, the community, and the beauty that make this region so special. It’s about slowing down, exploring at your own rhythm, and experiencing Northern California in its most vibrant and authentic season.

A Season of Abundance in Cannabis Country

Right now in Northern California, the farms we work with are alive with energy. The cannabis plants are reaching their full height, stretching toward the late-summer sun, and the fields are lush with greenery. It’s a moment of beauty and anticipation—just before harvest, when the plants are big, healthy, and truly something to behold. For those who are curious about cannabis cultivation, there’s no better time to step onto a farm and see this abundance up close.

Three Farms, Three Stories
We currently work with three different farms in Sonoma and Mendocino, each one offering its own story and style of cultivation. Some farms are tucked away on mountainsides, where growers carefully tend to sun-grown plants that thrive in clean air and rich soil. Others are closer to the rivers and valleys, where generations of farmers have passed down their knowledge of working with the land. Visiting these farms isn’t just about seeing the plants—it’s about meeting the people who nurture them and understanding the traditions that shape Cannabis Country.

Why This Time of Year Matters
Late summer into early fall is one of the most exciting times to visit. The plants are mature, standing tall and full, but harvest hasn’t yet begun. Farmers are eager to share their work, and guests get to see the plants in their prime, before they’re carefully cut and dried. It’s a fleeting window when the fields are at their most impressive—something most visitors never get the chance to witness.

Curated to Your Style
As with all of our tours, we design the day around your pace and preferences. Some guests prefer the ease of a private driver, with every detail handled from start to finish. Others enjoy the independence of our self-drive option, following a curated itinerary while exploring in the comfort of their own car. Both choices offer the same access: time with farmers, a picnic lunch at a mountainside farm or in a vineyard, and the option for premium wine tasting if you’d like to include it.

Supporting the Community
Every visit directly supports the small farmers who make this region so special. By joining us on a tour, you’re not just experiencing the beauty of Cannabis Country—you’re also contributing to the livelihoods of growers who face real challenges in today’s market. Your curiosity and connection help keep this community thriving.

An Invitation to Explore
This season is brief but unforgettable. The farms are vibrant, the plants are at their peak, and the air is filled with the anticipation of harvest. Whether you join us with a private driver or take the self-drive route, you’ll step into a moment that only comes once a year.

Now is the perfect time to experience Cannabis Country in its most abundant state. We’d be delighted to curate a day for you that captures the beauty of the farms, the stories of the growers, and the unique culture of this region.

A New Way to Experience Cannabis Country: Self-Drive Tours

Not every traveler wants a chauffeur. Some prefer the freedom of the open road, the independence of setting their own pace, and the comfort of their own car. With that in mind, we’ve introduced a self-drive option for our Cannabis Country tours. It’s the same premium, behind-the-scenes experience—just with you behind the wheel.

A Budget-Conscious Choice

Travel can add up quickly, and hiring a professional driver isn’t always in every guest’s budget. The self-drive option offers a more cost-conscious way to enjoy a cannabis and wine tour while still gaining rare access to California’s Cannabis Country. You’ll follow a carefully curated itinerary designed with the same expertise and hospitality that have guided our private cannabis farm tours for years—just without the added transportation cost.

Meeting the Farmers, Supporting the Community

At the heart of every cannabis farm tour is the farmer. When you choose the self-drive option, nothing changes about the core experience: you’ll step onto a working cannabis farm in Sonoma or Mendocino, meet the cultivators, and hear firsthand about their passion and challenges. These growers are the stewards of Cannabis Country, and your visit directly supports their livelihoods while offering you a rare chance to connect with the land.

The Same Access, Your Own Wheels

Our goal has always been to make cannabis culture approachable, educational, and deeply tied to the region’s history. With the self-drive option, you’ll still enjoy the highlights: a guided cannabis farm visit, a picnic lunch at a mountainside farm or in a vineyard, and the option for premium wine tasting along the way. The only difference? You’re free to drive yourself, linger where you like, and take in the scenery at your own pace.

Why We’re Offering This Option

Many guests have asked for cannabis farm experiences that balance insider access with affordability. By adding a self-drive option, we’re opening Cannabis Country to more curious explorers—without compromising authenticity or quality.

Experience Cannabis Country Your Way

Whether you prefer the full service of a professional driver or the independence of your own car, the heart of the tour remains the same: authentic access to farms, personal connection with farmers, and the chance to enjoy the best of Northern California’s cannabis culture.

Ready to Explore?

Cannabis Country is unlike anywhere else, and now it’s even easier to experience it in the way that works best for you. Whether you’d like the comfort of a private driver or the independence of your own car, our cannabis tours open the doors to farms and stories few visitors ever see. How to Add a Cannabis Farm Tour to Your Sonoma Wine Trip

For many travelers, a visit to Sonoma is about winding country roads, vineyard views, and the pleasure of discovering new wines. It’s a place where the pace slows down and you can truly take in the beauty of the land. What many people don’t realize is that the same valleys and hillsides that produce world-class wines are also home to some of the finest cannabis in the world. Including a cannabis farm visit in your Sonoma wine trip is an opportunity to experience the region in a way most visitors never do.

Lets Have a PicNic

The key is to blend the two experiences so they feel connected. A good place to start is by planning your wine tastings, whether that means exploring the Russian River Valley, Dry Creek, or Alexander Valley. Once you know where your wine stops will be, you can weave in a cannabis farm visit that complements your day rather than competes with it.

When choosing a cannabis experience, look for one that is personal and informative. The most rewarding tours are those where you meet the farmer, see the plants up close, and learn about the cultivation process from seed to harvest. Sonoma’s cannabis farms are often tucked into mountain landscapes with sweeping views, and the farmers themselves are proud stewards of their land. Visiting a farm is as much about understanding the culture and history of cannabis in Northern California as it is about the plant itself.

The flow of the day matters. Many guests like to begin with wine tastings, taking in the flavors and terroir of the region, before heading into the mountains for the cannabis portion of the experience. Along the way, a picnic lunch at a mountainside farm or in a vineyard is a perfect pause between the two worlds. There is something special about sitting outdoors, enjoying seasonal ingredients, and looking out at the very landscapes that make both wine and cannabis possible here.

If your day ends at a local dispensary, it can be a relaxed way to conclude the experience. You might browse a curated selection of products, talk with knowledgeable staff, and reflect on the day while enjoying a riverside setting. It’s a chance to connect the dots between the farm, the finished product, and the broader community that supports this agricultural tradition.

Planning a day that combines wine and cannabis does take some coordination. Working with a guide who knows the region can make all the difference, ensuring that travel times, tasting schedules, and farm visits all flow naturally. With the right planning, adding a cannabis farm tour to your Sonoma wine trip is more than just an extra stop. It becomes a deeper connection to the land, the people, and the unique culture that makes this part of California so memorable.

A Day in Cannabis Country: What Your Tour Might Look Like

There’s a rhythm to Northern California that’s hard to describe until you feel it for yourself. The cool morning mist, the sun cutting through redwoods by midday, the quiet hum of a farm coming to life. When guests join us for a curated wine and cannabis tour, they often ask: “What will the day look like?”

Here’s a glimpse of what you might experience.

A Relaxed Start

Your day begins with private transportation—no buses, no crowds. Just you and your group, with a knowledgeable local guide who knows the winding roads and hidden valleys of Sonoma and Mendocino. There's no rush. We keep the pace easy and personal.

A Visit to a Working Cannabis Farm

One of the most meaningful parts of the day is the visit to a cannabis farm tucked into the hills or valleys of the region. You’ll walk the land with the farmer himself, learn about cultivation techniques, and get a feel for what it takes to grow premium sun-grown cannabis in this part of the world.

No glass walls. No hype. Just plants, soil, and stories.

Guests often tell me it reminds them of visiting a vineyard before the tasting rooms became sleek. It's real, and that’s what makes it unforgettable.

A Scenic Picnic Lunch

Midday is usually reserved for a picnic lunch—either at the farm or in a nearby vineyard, depending on the season and itinerary. Think local cheeses, fresh fruit, artisan sandwiches, and a bottle of something crisp and well chosen.

There’s something about dining outdoors, surrounded by vines or redwoods, that lets you breathe a little deeper.

The Option for Premium Wine Tasting

If you choose, we can visit one or two boutique wineries. These are often family-run spots that aren’t listed on tourist maps. Tastings are unhurried and hosted by people who live on the land. No tour buses. No pretense. Just good wine and even better conversation.

A Stop at a Local Dispensary (Optional)

For guests who are interested, we can end the day at a welcoming, well-appointed dispensary near the Russian River. It’s a chance to explore the retail side of cannabis with guidance—not pressure. Some guests just browse, others ask questions, and some make a small purchase to enjoy later. As always, it’s your choice.

A Tour Designed Around You

No two tours are the same. You might be celebrating a birthday, traveling with close friends, or simply curious to learn. Whether you want to explore wine pairings, dive into cannabis education, or just enjoy the beauty of Northern California, we build the day around your interests.

Final Thoughts

This isn’t about excess. It’s about slowing down. Walking the land. Meeting the people behind the plants and the vines. And connecting with a side of Wine Country most travelers never see.

If that sounds like your kind of day, I’d be honored to help you plan it.

Is Cannabis Tourism Legal in California? What You Need to Know Before You Tour

One of the most common questions I get—often asked with a bit of hesitation—is:
"Is this legal?"

The short answer is yes—and here’s why.

Cannabis is fully legal for adult recreational use in California. That includes the ability to purchase and possess cannabis from licensed dispensaries, and to visit licensed farms and producers for educational purposes. What isn’t always clear is how this fits into a day of touring, especially when wine is involved.

That’s where I come in.

My tours are built to honor both the spirit of the law and the spirit of the land. We don’t create party buses or casual consumption loops. What we offer is an educational, cultural, and agricultural experience, just like a wine tour. Guests have the option of choosing one of three different cannabis farms, where you’ll meet the grower, tour the farm, and learn how world-class cannabis is cultivated in Northern California’s sun and soil.

These are private, invitation-only visits—legal, secure, and respectful of both the product and the people behind it.

The tour may also include stops at boutique wineries, a picnic lunch at a mountainside farm or in a vineyard, and ends at a local dispensary if guests are interested. Again, everything is legal, private, and fully curated.

If you’re someone who enjoys wine tasting, is curious about cannabis, or just wants to explore something new in Wine Country, you’re in good company. More and more guests are realizing that cannabis and wine aren’t opposing cultures—they’re neighboring ones.

If you have questions, I’m always happy to talk. Just reach out. Let’s make sure your time in Cannabis Country is not only legal but unforgettable.
